WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: THE MAGIC OF THE LIMINAL

Join Visionary Songstress Wendy Rule for this 3 hour ritual workshop exploring the mythology and Magic of the Liminal. Between the threshold of the old and the new lies a powerful realm of possibility. As we navigate periods of change in our lives, we can draw on the Magic of this liminal realm, a moment in time and space that is neither here nor there, neither one thing nor another. The Liminal is a place of transformation. Dusk and dawn, Samhain nights, Fairy Rings, crossroads, doorways and bridges, all have something to teach us about the gifts of stepping through the veil, leaving the past behind us and embracing a new possibility.

Celebrate the ancient Pagan festival of Samhain (Halloween) with 3 days and 3 nights of Magic and ritual on this intimate, all-inclusive and fully catered residential retreat in our beautiful Victorian home near the small historic town of Las Vegas, New Mexico (the original Las Vegas!). As a small group of 13 (8 participants and 5 facilitators, including me) we will honour our Ancestors, gathering together for rituals, workshops, meditations, craft, music, and meals. We’ll have plenty of time to reflect, journal, enjoy each other’s company, immerse ourselves in New Mexico’s stunning Nature and experience the epic New Mexico night sky. Explore our 4 1/2 acres of High Desert Juniper woodland, complete with ritual circles, winding pathways, and secret fairy groves. I’ll also perform a special private concert for participants!

VENUE

We (Wendy and Tim) welcome you to celebrate Samhain in our iconic Victorian home, situated just 10 minutes from the historic town of Las Vegas New Mexico, and only an hour from Santa Fe. Our home is set high on a hill above the surrounding farms, with gorgeous views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the West and the start of the Great Plains to the East. We are only minutes from the National Wildlife Refuge – a renowned gathering place for migrating birds. The beautiful Gallinas Hiking Trail is just a few minutes drive away, and the Montezuma Hot Springs less than 20 minutes away.

ACCOMMODATION

Participants will have their own private room or designated private space, either upstairs in the main house, or in the 3 bedroom guest home (with ramp) right beside the main home. Both are lovely options. The price of the retreat depends on which room you choose. You’ll find a detailed description of the available rooms, and the costs, below. 

MEALS

Delicious, healthy, home cooked vegan meals are and drinks (including wine) are included.  We can accommodate gluten free if needed. Let me know if you have any allergies and we’ll work around them. 

PROGRAM: 3 DAYS AND NIGHTS OF WORKSHOPS AND RITUAL

We’ll begin on Thursday with a ‘meet and greet’ followed by dinner and our sunset Opening Ritual. We’ll rise early on Friday morning to welcome the Sun (optional), and after breakfast begin a full day of classes and rituals, exploring mythology and Magic related to this sacred time of year. After dinner, I’ll perform a private Samhain themed concert! On Saturday, (after our optional Sunrise ritual), we’ll continue our workshops (with a focus on divination, and crafting a sacred ‘Witches Ladder) , which will culminate in our Main Ritual (honouring the Thinning of the Veils and our Beloved Dead), followed by a magnificent Harvest Feast. After Sunrise and breakfast on Sunday, we’ll perform our Closing Ritual, and after everyone is packed and ready ready to leave, we’ll celebrate together with a final lunch. 

HOW TO GET HERE

FLY: If you fly into Santa Fe, we can collect you from the airport on Thursday October 26th and drop you back on Sunday afternoon / evening. Car hire is also available from Santa Fe airport if you would prefer to travel independently. If you choose to fly into Albuquerque (where there are more flights per day) we suggest that you hire a car from the airport. It’s about a 2 hour drive to our place and we are therefore unable to offer transfers from Albuquerque Airport. 

TRAIN: Las Vegas Amtrak station is only 10 minutes away. A train arrives each afternoon from Chicago (via Kansas) and from Los Angeles (Via Arizona, and Albuquerque). We can collect you from the station. There is a shuttle from Albuquerque airport to the Albuquerque Amtrak station. 

DRIVE: Our home is just a few minutes off the I -25, and very easy to find. There’s plenty of parking

TRANSFERS: from Santa Fe airport or Las Vegas Amtrak station if needed.

We have 5 different private rooms to choose from , and 3 additional semi-private curtained off spaces (which are a little cheaper). 3 of the private rooms and one semi-private space are in the Guest House, and 2 private rooms and 2 curtained spaces are upstairs in our beautiful Victorian home. THE GUEST HOUSE AT MEADOWLARK: 

Our lovely 3 bedroom guest house with ramp, adjacent to the main house, with its own kitchen and living room, a covered deck and outside table and chairs, and an uncovered deck with views that stretch on forever! This is the only room for the whole retreat that has its own bathroom! It has a beautiful queen size oak sleigh bed with a ‘Nectar’ brand memory foam mattress, and great views. And a big wardrobe for all your witchy robes!

The smallest room in the guest house, with a double size bed, is very pretty and charming. The bathroom is shared with the Orange Room and the Lounge Room guests.

A comfy pull out queen size couch in the main living room of the guest house. A screen and curtains are provided for privacy.The bathroom is shared with the Orange Room and the Blue Room guests.

THE MOON ROOM – 

A beautiful converted attic with a pitched roof. It has a king sized bed with a super comfy ‘Nectar’ brand memory foam mattress and truly epic views to the South and the West. (It’s my favourite room in the whole house!)

THE FUTON ROOM 

This sweet room has a double futon, and its own door into the shared bathroom. It has pretty, antique windows which offer lovely views to the South. Lots of wardrobe room for your witchy robes!

THE LANDING 

A curtained off area with a comfy single/twin bed on the big ‘landing’ at the top of the stairs. The Landing has epic views to the East for moonrise and sunrise. You’ll share the upstairs bathroom with the other upstairs guests.

A single bed in a sweet curtained off nook between the Moon Room and the upstairs landing. It’s very little, but charming. You’ll share the upstairs bathroom with the other upstairs guests.

HOTEL IN LAS VEGAS NM 

If your preferred room is sold out (ie, you’d like a private bathroom) and you have your own transport, you might like to stay in one of the lovely historic hotels in our charming town. Rooms at the Plaza Hotel and the Castaneda Hotel are around $150 a night. Both are less than 10 minutes drive away.
